This is the homepage for all the descendants of Gudbjørg and Ragnvald Øen from Dale i Sunnfjord, Norway.
My father, Karl Ragnvald, grandchild of Gudbjørg and Ragnvald Øen have for some years collected data about the family. In 2008 I helped him and found the software GreatFamily on the Internet. Gudbjørg Thorsen, living in Iceland helped me with access to the official Icelandic database of relatives Islendingabok and I have collected data from the Iselendingabok and also some from the Internet. All the data are now in our GrateFamily database (Slekts- Tre og Oppslagstavle) on this homepage. It is a special situation that Gunnar Øen, son of Gudbjørg and Ragnvald and his nephew, Karl Ragnvald, married the sisters Gunvor and Kari Næs from Rosendal and therefore vi like to cover both these two families on this homepage - and even from the Icelandic relatives we find a woman from Jon(s)dal - so who knows; may be the two families are connected.
If you are related to the two parts of the family you are welcome to join the member pages of this site. You will see that a lot of work remain until we can be satisfied, however the hope is that we all can contribute to make it better.
We know that some of our relatives in Iceland and USA may not speak Norwegian - if that is the case you are still welcome to join and to use English.
The idea is that we use the blog to share text and pictures and we will take the data to the GrateFamily Tree when it is updated, one or two times per year.
You will need an invitation to join, please send an email to arvid@luckyduck.at, or ask another member for an invitation.
When you access the member area you will also find a Photo Album where we share old and new pictures. You are welcome to create an album and share pictures. The pictures can be set to be private (to members) or open to all Internet users. All pictures on this site are shared, however please do not post pictures fond here on the Internet without asking the originator.
